The late 70's were heady times, not dissimilar to today. The economy was in a right state, inflation had peaked at a whopping 24% (yes really....that's not a typo) in 1975 and by '78 had fallen back to almost 9% (we've got all this to come by the way, just so's you're prepared...). The upshot of this was that used car prices had skyrocketed. When that Cortina left the showroom in early '73 it had cost its first owner £1200. found out my Cedric cost just over £7500 new!!!!! Thats about half the price of an average house that year! No wonder they never sold many ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)
